response to an email from
Mayor Pamela
Torliatt encouraging me to vote for David Glass and Tiffany Renee.)
"I can't vote for a
person that just two years ago told me that I
needed to put some sort of thing in my back yard to where I needed to
compost my human waste (some people don't forget). (Read more here)
Tiff
will NOT take a
specific stand between PCA and PMA (I think
that's what Vasgird wants). And, I wonder why, Vasgird and
Shribbs are
contributors to her campaign. People on the left point to bought
people on the right by the developers...well, it works BOTH ways.
I
was out with David
the last time they had a community view of
the new water treatment plant. I said hello to Tiff and she
snubbed
me, treated me as if I wasn't even there! Tiff and I had some
email
exchanges a month earlier and she got pissed at my point of view on the
subject matter....no compromise there....her way or the highway...no
dialogue, no nothing except to (basically) flip me off.
Who will I vote
for? Well, David, of course....and Spence
Burton. I don't even know if I'll even consider marking another
box."

Not knowing Tiffany
Renée, I found myself appalled when she went
up to
the speaker’s podium at the Sept. 8, 7 p.m. City Council meeting and
had the nerve to berate a young man who had applied for a position of a
committee that she happens to be chairperson because of his e-mail
address.
The young man in
question is a United States Army
ranger who has served two tours in the Middle East. He also grew up in
Petaluma and wanted to serve his community as he had served his country.
Renée
also stated that if her younger brother, who serves in the United
States Marine Corps, had done the same thing, she would sit him down
and chastise him also. If I were her younger brother serving my
country, you can believe that I would also have some words for her.
Since when does one’s e-mail address have anything to do with serving
one’s community?
This young lady is
running for Petaluma City
Council and I will well tell you she is not the kind of judgmental,
critical person that I want serving me. It looks to me that it is “her
way or no way at all.” That is not my idea of leadership and serving
the community, which I have done for many years. Humility and respect
go a long way in this world, something I learned a long time ago as an
officer in the United States Army. It works.

Editor,
I am proud to be a Citizen
of the US of America and this
election I will be voting for the first time.
I own a business in Petaluma and work at a Latino TV
station in San Francisco, but for 10 years I worked at PCA. I
was the bridge between the Latino and the Anglo community, for
years we
volunteered and filmed Butter+Eggs, Veterans Day, Casa Football
games,
Soccer, the Fair, and helped Pets for Adoption, Chicken Scratch,
Access
Health, O₼Brien Factor, Touch of Glass, too many to list.
I mentored at
risk youth by teaching them how to film productions and
computer
editing, they changed their path from Gang/Crime
activities to one
of volunteering for our community and learning things that could
help
them get jobs. Their programs
that aired on PCA were instrumental in "keeping
peace in
the streets". I trained people of all races, all
ages, anyone that wanted to learn.
Until, last year, when we were
discriminated and shut out of PCA, by the then director Julie Akins,
Chair John Shribbs and Treasurer Tom Vasgird. Under this
administration we lost our studio and the capability to broadcast live.
For months we sent letters and attended City Council meetings
asking
for their help.
Only
one City Council Candidate helped. That man is Spence
Burton, no one
else. I do not understand how Tiffany Rene can support
the people
that discriminated against us. Nor do I understand how others can
support her. I endorse and will be voting for the first time, for
Spence Burton for Petaluma City Council because he will represent
everyone, not just a few.

And please vote . . .

(I did not believe it until I read it
directly from the newspaper website. Go ahead and read it for
yourself. Tiffany Rene ran for City Council in 2006. Below
are answers to questions from the Argus
Courier.)
How
should the city
ensure that it has enough water to serve residents over the life of the
General Plan?
I
grew up in Sacramento during a long-term drought in the 70s. I didn't
know what good water pressure was until I moved to Petaluma. I continue
to practice "If it's yellow, be mellow. If it's brown, flush it down."
If that bothers you, then you may want consider moving. We can't be
squeamish towards the water shortage issues we're facing. I feel guilt
leaving the water on too long after wetting my toothbrush.
If Petaluma is to
become sustainable we need to change our lifestyle to
make room for future generations.
Composting toilets
are not currently allowed in our codes, but if
allowed would be a huge benefit to the community. A compost toilet
incentive program for zero sewer fees for "X" number of years would
greatly benefit the community and create a new industry for compost
collection services. After all, we have many "cow days" that smell much
worse than a compost toilet. We should allow the community the
opportunity to experiment and test these new technologies until the
right ones can become mainstream. We're really only about two
generations from the days when outhouses were normal in many parts of
the country.
Holy cow! You have to wonder about
the people who endorse Tiffany Renee.

The following is in
response to Tiffany Renee's dissatisfaction to her report
card:
October 17, 2008
Tiffany,
I happen to believe
that attending all the meetings do not make anyone
qualified for a seat on the council.
I have seen you at
work many times and I did not like what I heard. I
saw the list of people that supports you and I worry about your
decisions if elected. I have seen how you ignore people that
disagree
with you and I question your impartiality if elected.
At the eleventh hour
you send me an e-mail asking the city to halt the
trapping and killing of feral cats. I want action not talk.
The group
of people supporting you wrote the ordinance banning cats from the City
of Petaluma and that is of great concern to me.
And of course, there
is the issue about PCA. The former board, which I
have witnessed and found to be outrageously unfair to put it mildly,
also supports you.
For these reasons
and others not listed here, I won't support you. If
I wrote anything that you find is inaccurate please be specific.
Thank
you.
